Kidsoft.com
Kidsoft Inc. was a software retailer that specialized in edutainment software for kids. Their website was built before the use of server-side scripting and databases. Their entire store was saved in a database off-line and then on a periodic basis they would run a script on the database to produce static HTML pages that made up the store. I worked on updating the information in the database as well as finding or designing images to display the new items added to the store. Later the company was bought by MMI. As the companies were merging I was given the task of working on the MMI site. Sadly the MMI site was much more primitive; the previous webmaster had built the entire website (1000+ pages) without using a single directory. The entire site and all it's images were sitting on the root of their server. It was a long and tedious task, but I organized the site into directories based on the navigation hierarchy of the site and rerouted all the links. The finished product proved to be much more manageable and allowed the site to expand in ways it hadn't been able to before. Sadly Kidsoft is long gone and so is their website.
